Wifi – What Can It Do For You?
WiFi has been a hot buzzword for many years now. People are searching for it on the Internet, looking for WiFi hotspots in hotels, cafes, and airports. What it WiFi, and what can it do for you?
WiFi, formerly known as 802.11B, is the most common type of wireless networking around. For those who have a laptop and want to get connected to the Internet, WiFi is the way most users connect. Most laptops have WiFi built in, and many homes with high speed Internet through cable or DSL use WiFi within the home to connect laptops, desktop computers, printers, and scanners.
I started using WiFi ten years ago to get Internet from the university where I worked. It was so much faster than my modem. I haven’t looked back. When traveling in Thailand, Malaysia, Viet Naam, Cambodia, and Australia, my wife and I used WiFi hotspots wherever we could. We’d open up our laptops and catch up with friends and family by email, Facebook, phone calls through our VOIP system, and even live videoconferencing. We also ran our business from our laptops. After traveling for a year, we came back the the US, and faced the same challenge of finding WiFi hotspots. Getting an air card at $60 per month with a two year contract was not an attractive option, and the monthly charge for a cell phone could easily be another $60 a month. Added to our hesitation at signing a two year contract were the limits on Internet usage with the air card. Watch a few YouTube videos, and we’d go over the limit. Plus the air card would only work for one of our laptops, not both. We didn’t know where to turn.
Then we found out about a plan that offers unlimited Internet for multiple computers, as well as unlimited talk minutes and unlimited texting, for less than we would have paid for an air card and a cell phone, and there are no contracts. Wow Mobile provides phones and cell service in a way that enables the cell phone to be a WiFi hotspot. The phone gets 3G Internet through cell phone towers, and makes it available through WiFi to multiple computers. If the hotel, airport, or cafe doesn’t have WiFi, just pull the cell phone out of your pocket and you have fast, unlimited Internet through the cell phone.
At a business conference recently, attendees needed Internet for their laptops, and there wasn’t any to be found. However, out of the 20 businessmen, two were using Wow Mobile. They pulled out their phones, and very quickly everyone was connected by WiFi to the Internet and business continued. Even while talking on their cell phones, people were using the Internet.
Are you tired of paying high prices for your air card, tired of finding WiFi hotspots only part of the time? Find out how to get unlimited Internet to multiple computers wherever you go.
